As per a tweet from journalist Fabrizio Romano, AS Monaco are in the transfer market actively hunting for a center-back. Last season, the French side finished in sixth place due to which they will miss out on European football. To strengthen their squad for and challenge for European football next season, it seems Moncao’s manager Adi Hütter is keen on finding a man who will help orchestrate Moncao’s defense.
Based on the tweet from Romano, Hütter has already found two suitable candidates to don Monaco’s jersey. The two players scouted by Hütter and his staff are Mohammed Salisu and Tosin Adarabioyo. While the club will sign only one of them, it seems as if Monaco has an equal interest in both players. Romano’s tweet also mentioned that the club will soon begin talks to discuss the terms and conditions of both deals.
Mohammed Salisu is currently contracted to Southampton Football Club, which suffered relegation last season. With the team now playing in the Championship, it will be interesting to monitor if Salisu would consider a deal to move to top-tier football in France or if he would like to contribute to Southampton’s rise to the top. Last season, Salisu was key for the English club as he made 28 appearances in total.
Tosin Adarabioyo, on the other, hand plays for English side Fulham FC. He too was key in Fulham’s defense as he made 29 appearances in total last season. In the games he played for the English side, Adarabioyo displayed decent passing and clearing abilities. If AS Monaco is able to sign the 25-year-old English player, the club could potentially build a leader for their future.
