AS Monaco have a deal in place to sign Mohammed Salisu

After actively being in a hunt for a centre-back in the ongoing transfer window, AS Monaco has signed Southampton centre-back Mohammed Salisu. The move comes after Monaco had registered equal interest in the Southampton player and Tosin Adarabioyo. The news of Salisu’s move to AS Monaco has been met with a lot of excitement by the fans of the club.

As per a tweet from journalist Fabrizio Romano, the French club have a deal in place with Southampton. Monaco also have medicals booked for the player. To secure the services of Salisu, Monaco will pay the English club a fee of €15m, and the two teams have also agreed to four instalments. The 24-year-old Ghanian is expected to be in Monaco within the next 24 hours, and an official statement from the club will come out by next week.

Salisu’s departure from Southampton will be a blow for the recently relegated English side. Last season, the Ghanaian international was a key figure in the club’s defence. In total, Salisu made 28 appearances for the club in all competitions. Given his strong tackling and ability to clear the ball under strenuous situations, it will be interesting to monitor how Salisu contributes to Monaco’s defence.
