Arsenal are putting together a club-record bid worth £92m for West Ham United captain Declan Rice, as reported by Matt Law.
West Ham will want as much as possible of that fee paid up front which could prove to be a stumbling block for the Gunners as they attempt to raise funds through player sales.
Manchester United are also thought to be interested in Rice but the North London club remain confident a deal can be done to land the England international.
The 24-year-old has one year remaining on his deal at the Hammers which may force the club into selling their prized asset this summer to avoid losing him for free next year.
Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is close to agreeing a move to Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen, which leaves a void in Mikel Arteta’s midfield.
