According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have sent scouts to follow RB Leipzig centre-back Mohamed Simakan.
There is nothing advanced or imminent at this stage but the Gunners appreciate the Under-21 French international. The board are currently monitoring Simakan, who is valued at €28m, as reported by Transfermarkt.
Simakan has made 75 appearances for the German club since completing a €15m move from Ligue 1 outfit RC Strasbourg Alsace in 2021.
The 23-year-old has often operated at right-back this season, scoring three goals and providing six assists.
Given Simakan’s versatility, his profile aligns well with previous Arsenal signings such as, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Ben White, both of which can play in multiple positions.
The North London club host seventh-placed Brighton and Hove on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium before travelling to the East Midlands to face relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal have already guaranteed their place in the Champions League next season, after a six-year stint out of the competition.
