According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have submitted a £60m bid for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder, Moisés Caicedo.
Chelsea had a £55m verbal proposal rejected this January for the Ecuadorian international but Arsenal are now pushing to sign the highly rated 21-year-old.
With just over four days remaining of the transfer window it presents a difficult deal to do and should any deal commence it would surely rely on Brighton finding a suitable replacement.
Arsenal lost out on the chance to sign Mykhailo Mudryk, who joined Chelsea earlier in this window for a fee believed to be in the region of £88m.
The gunners didn’t want to be involved in a bidding war with Chelsea despite chasing the wingers signature throughout the majority of the window.
It again appears Arsenal and Chelsea may be set to battle for the signature of a player with Caicedo this time the target.
Mikel Arteta’s side currently sit top of the Premier League whilst Chelsea languish in mid-table.
