Argentina coach: “We’re ready for penalties, all 8 teams are good enough for the final.”

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has told journalists at his pre-match press conference before Argentina’s quarter-final tie with the Netherlands in Qatar that his team have been practicing penalties while suggesting that any of the eight teams remaining in the tournament are good enough to make the final. Scaloni said:

“We have been practicing penalties, before and after training… Let’s hope we don’t get to that stage and we’re able to qualify before then, but you can’t approach a game thinking from minute zero that there will be penalties… We plan to win the match in regulation time… All eight teams that are now left can make the final, I have no doubts on that. We’re all one step away from playing all seven games and they will all do their best to make the final – margins are tight, it’s very even.”

The knockout tie between the pair is a repeated of the famous quarter-final at France 98, remembered for Dennis Bergkamp’s iconic late winner.
