As per Fabrizio Romano, Dominic Solanke has given the ‘green light’ to Tottenham Hotspur, as Spurs push to get a deal done for the Bournemouth striker.
Talks are underway between the two sides, and negotiations are ongoing for an agreement to be found.
Although the fee for such a deal has not been reached, Tottenham are said to be ‘unwilling to match’ Solanke’s £65m reported buy-out clause, but could potentially offer ‘more favorable payment terms’ – as per The Telegraph.
If completed, the move would see The North London side sign the former Chelsea and Liverpool forward following his excellent season in the English top flight, in which he scored 19 and created three in 38 appearances.
Furthermore, aside from his goalscoring qualities, Solanke also fits the profile Ange Postecoglou looks for in his striker, able to link-up play, press intensely, run the channels, as well as find space and lucrative chances in the box with clever movement.
Although current Spurs No.9 Richarlison can also fulfill such duties, the Brazilian has struggled with fitness during his time at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium – missing a total of 21 games through injury since his €58m move from Everton two years ago, according to Transfermarkt.
As such, with Richarlison only scoring 12 league goals over those two campaigns, Spurs have been searching for a new striker throughout the summer.
The Lilywhites have already secured deals for Korean winger Yang Min-Hyeok, £40m wonderkid Archie Gray from Leeds United, in addition to the arrival of Swedish sensation Lucas Bergvall, who’s €10m signing was officially announced in February.
However, with all of these signings aged just 18, Spurs are still looking for further first-team reinforcements, as they look to improve upon their fifth place finish last season and reclaim their status as a Champions League side.
